Memorable Sarawak Trip

Hello there audience and welcome back to my daily diary, today I am excited to tell you that I went on a residential trip with my class to Sarawak! It was epic, and I would like to share my experiences with you today!

First day: I woke up at 5 in the morning because I must be at school before 6:30 am. I bid farewell to my parents and they wish me a safe trip ahead. We departed from school at around 6:40 and reached the airport at around 8:10. While waiting for our flight, we bought snacks and talked to each other. When our plane finally arrived, we departed and took a 2 hour flight to Kuching. There we met our tour guides Lulu and Ludo, Ludo is from France! We went on the bus and went to the place that we were staying, the Anahrais Bidayuh Longhouse, which is a place where the houses are made from wood and were standing on top of wooden pillars. We went to the hot springs where we enjoyed and relaxed. But the main problem for us that is of course, sleeping... Inside the houses were boiling hot and we couldn't even sleep for 5 minutes. But surprisingly at 2 am I got some sleep. But when I woke up I had this burning sensation on my left eye, like literally I can feel it burning. But it went away when I splashed it with cold water.

Second day: We bid farewell to the longhouse and went by boat to Bako National Park, an island situated out in the ocean. When we arrived, we checked in to our rooms and oh boy we are relieved that there fans and a proper bathroom there. After we checked in, we went for a 1 hour trek to the beach, getting there is not easy, as the trek is filled uphills and downhills, but we managed to get to the beach safely. When we arrived my friends had fun swimming and playing frisbee and all that, but I forgot to bring my swimming trunks so I can just sit on the rocks and look at the beautiful scenery. After an hour of fun we trekked back to our accommodation and had dinner. After dinner we had a 1 hour night walk to see if we could find any rare species of insects or animals. We saw a tarantula and bats!

Third day: We woke up fresh from our sleep, checked out of our accommodation and went to mainland by boat. From there we went to the Sarawak Cultural Village, and watched a performance where they demonstrated blow-piping and traditional dances. After that we were asked to take a tour of the village. While taking the tour, we saw different types of houses and cultural performances. I got myself a tattoo, well it's not a permanent one they just drew a beautiful pattern on my arm with marker pen. But sadly now it has faded away. After taking the tour we hopped on the bus and checked into the Abell Hotel, we are so happy that they had AC, a plasma screen TV and satellite channels. After checking in, we walked to the riverside and had dinner there, the food was awesome!

Fourth day: Waking up from a wonderful nights sleep, we packed our bags and readied for a hard days work at the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Matang. There we had to clean the orangutans cages(was so dirty!), clean their platforms and paint their platforms. But we got a chance to see them in action and as well as some very shy bears... It was tiring but at least we accomplished the job. At night we had dinner at Top Spot, which is one of the most famous restaurants in Kuching I have to say the food was brilliant.

Last day: We bid farewell to our hotel and went for a tour of the Sarawak Museum, which is full of artifacts and real life sculptures of animals. After that we had lunch at the Aroma Restaurant and the curry was epic. My table finished 4 big bowls of rice... After the wonderful lunch we headed  to the airport, where we said goodbye to our tour guides Ludo and Lulu. While waiting I just took a tour of the airport, nothing much to see really... We departed at 6:00 pm and reached KL at around 8:00. When we reached the airport in KL, I noticed I dropped my wallet somewhere when I was walking to the arrival hall, at that moment I was filled with rage and anger and felt like not talking to anyone. We filled out a lost and found form and hope for the best that they will find my wallet. We reached school at around 10pm and were happy to see our parents again.

This trip will be remembered, although there were some bad moments on this trip for me, this trip will not be forgotten. Just to end this off, they found my wallet!
