El Capitan Review

Hello guys and welcome back to another tech review of some sort. This time I will be reviewing the well anticipated new software for Mac, El Capitan. It came out on September 30th, and I have been using it since the day it came out. So here is my review:

First off, the addition of split view makes multitasking even more intuitive and convenient. You could be doing your homework and at the same time look at notes you wrote on another app, it just makes completing your work more quicker. It could also be used to watch a video on one side and chat with your friends on the other, the possibilities are endless. I think this is the highlight of El Capitan, and they have made an upmost impressive job of it.

Apple also said updating to El Capitan would boost your computer's performance, in terms of opening applications and handling multitasking. This is thanks to Metal, a software API that can utilise your computer's CPU and other components for better performance. So far I have seen some improvements in terms of speed on my computer, like opening apps and switching between apps. Other than that, everything else performance wise feels the same.

Aesthetics wise, the only thing that changed was the font on the whole computer. You might not notice it at first, but when you delve deeper into and actually zoom in to look at the font, the letters are more spaced out between each other and are a bit taller. The font used in Yosemite was called Helvetica Neue, while in El Capitan it's called San Francisco, a font family Apple made by themselves. Overall I had no issues with the font change, as it could enable people to pinpoint words out more due to the more spacing. Oh also the spinning beachball icon you see when your computer is not responding is now toned down a bit and flat, to match the GUI of the current OSX.

Overall I think this update should be called Yosemite 2.0, since nothing major has changed, but it was their decision. I have no problems with the new update, works like a charm. Well that's all folks, hope you enjoyed my review. Until next time!
