Korea : A Journey To Be Remembered

Hey guys and welcome back! You guys might have known that I went to Korea this past week, and it has been amazing. The food, the culture, the internet, the views, Korea has everything you can ever think of. Tomorrow I'm going to be flying off to Hong Kong to stay in China until the 30th, so here's a recap of my awesome Korean Trip!

Day 1 : The first day... Didn't go as planned. I had only a few hours sleep the night before due to flight delays and what not. But nevertheless I was on the way to Korea in a nick of time. I arrived in the afternoon, around 2-3pm. When I first entered Korea, I was bewildered by how technologically advanced the place was. We met our tour guide, and she was really friendly on first meeting. Because I was in a tour group, I had to wait for the other people to arrive, but it turns out that their flight got delayed BY A DAY. Wow wonder what happened there? So because of this we toured Korea by ourselves for the first day. We didn't have much time, so we just visited Chinatown. It had all the bits and bobs you expect, like cheap clothes and accessories to delicious street food. After that we headed to our hotel, which was really nice and comfy.

Day 2 : Woke up really early at 7am to eat breakfast, and we found out that the other guys have arrived and they were all Malaysian, same like us! But we didn't talk at first, as you all know it takes time to get to know new people. The first place we went to was Lotte Theme Park, which was an amusement park like Disneyland, but only smaller... I am not a big fan of rides so I didn't go on much of the rides, the only ride I went on was the monorail tour of the place. After that we went to place called "Little French Town" far away from the city. It was in the mountains and the view was spectacular. There was when I started getting to know the other people, especially two guys called Ian and Zack. They both know a friend of mine and they go to the SAME school as my friend, what a coincidence! Because of that we bonded really well, and now are really good friends. After snapping some shots at the town, we then went on a 4 hour journey to the ski resort up in the hills. When we arrived it was freezing cold, and there were some patches of snow on the ground. Since I have never touched/seen snow in real life before, I squealed like a little girl. We were shown to our rooms, and it was awesome. Oh I forgot to mention throughout this tour every hotel I stay in I get my own room! What was most impressive about the hotel was the wifi, the speed was INSANE!!!

The speed was outrageous!

Day 3 : After we had our breakfast, we made our way to the ski place to get ourselves sorted out for skiing. We had to rent ski clothes and a pair of skis for the experience. Again I squealed when I touched snow for the first time. After we sorted ourselves out we headed onto the ski slopes to practice and get lessons from a mentor. It turns out skiing is much harder than I thought, you had to control and balance yourself while going down the slopes, and it's harder than it sounds, I actually fell A LOT of times. But it's ok, it was my first time, first times for things are always a great experience. We even made a snowman in the midst of it! After skiing we went to a sauna place, where we had the chance to relax and unwind after some hours of excruciating but enjoyable skiing. Not to mention the jacuzzi, it was fantastic! We then went on a 4 hour journey again to our next hotel, which was in Seoul. The jacuzzi and sauna made me able to sleep the whole journey, which was nifty indeed.
Me in front of the ski slope, look at that view!

Day 4 : There was not much that happened that day, apart from visiting numerous shopping centres and exhibitions. A special mention goes to the Amethyst centre we visited, it was real Amethyst we were looking at and are rarely found on Earth. The best thing that happened that day came at night, where we visited Seoul Tower, which has the highest point in Seoul. When we reached the top, the view was absolutely impeccable. The lights of the city shone like stars in the sky.

Day 5 : Jeju Island Day, what I meant was that we went to Jeju Island on that day haha. Before that we went to a factory that made really fresh seaweed. Probably one of the best I have ever tasted, since it was 98% seaweed and 2 % preservatives in the snack. Also we learnt how to make Kimchi, one of if not the healthiest food in the world because it has a lot of advantages to your body, maintaining blood pressure and reducing stress to name a couple. After that we took some pictures in traditional Korean clothing, called Hanbok. I have to say I looked pretty good in Hanbok haha. We then headed for the airport to head to Jeju Island, which was only an hour away by airplane. When we reached Jeju Island, we were greeted with a strong blast of cold air as we left the airplane, and this continued until we reached our bus. We are then transported to our new hotel.
Me wearing Hanbok, I didn't know why I was doing that gesture...

Day 6 : This was today, and our last full day in Korea. In the morning we went to a mountainous area where the wind was so strong and cold, it literally made me suffer the whole time we were there. I managed to get some decent shots of the view, the place was astonishing, it was beside the sea and we could see the whole view of the nearby village. After that, we then visited an orange farm, where fresh oranges were being grown on orange trees and I gotta tell you, it was the best oranges I have ever tasted. It was really fresh and really sweet, what a perfect orange should be like. I also tried their famous chocolate with orange and it was SO DELICIOUS. After that we went to a teddy bear museum, where everything was all about teddy bears. They were so cute and I cuddled with some of them haha. We went to a historical site after that, where were informed of the history about Korea and how people lived back then. In the midst of touring the place it snowed, and it was a dream come true. The final stop for the tour was at an ice sculpture museum, where we made our own ice sculpted cups and took some pictures with some professionally sculpted ice sculptures (whoa the amount of times I said sculptures/sculpture).

And there you have it, my astonishing and unbelievable trip to Korea. Hope you guys enjoyed reading my journey to Korea and I'll see you guys in the next post. Adios!
